Just a quick weekend reminder that all season ticket holders should cast their votes for the names of the Membership Association and the Marching Band “by December 1st” (whether that means 12:01a on Monday morning or by 11:59p on Monda night, we can’t tell). You will need your Sounders FC account number to register the vote.

Close to Signing Sigi Schmid?
Columbus Crew head coach Sigi Schmid is under contract with the MLS Champions until the end of the month. Ives Galarcep is reporting that the two-time MLS Cup winner could be announced as the new head coach of Sounders FC as soon as Monday.
Schmid is on the verge of accepting a deal to become the first head coach of Seattle Sounders FC, multiple sources within MLS told SBI on Tuesday. Schmid’s current contract with the MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew expires on Sunday, meaning he could be introduced as Seattle’s head coach as soon as Monday.

got to admit, i don’t know a whole lot about most of the players
with the exception of a few stand out names, (ruiz, olsen, jaqua, gallardo) i don’t know much about the rest of the players. as i mentioned when is started this blog, i have had a hard time getting into the MLS historically. while the level of play has improved dramatically over the last 5 years i think, not having a local team to support has seriously dampened my enthusiasm for the league and therefore my knowledge of most of these players. 14 MLS clubs have submitted their final lists of whom to protect on their roster and who to risk losing to Sounders FC in Wednesday’s Expansion Draft.

Yakima Open Tryout Finalists
The Yakima Herald is reporting that four people were selected as finalists at yesterday’s Sounder Super Search.
The Finalists…
- Junior Garcia- as a player for the Yakima Reds, Garcia was selected the 2008 PDL Most Valuable Player. He was the leagues scoring champion and leading goal scorer
- Al Valencia- a 22 year old defender/midfielder played for the Yakima Reds (where he was the team captain) and is signed to an indoor contract with Wenatchee Fire FC. He is 5’9″ 165lbs.
- Samuel Lam- played at the University of Alberta and currently plays for the Edmonton Drillers
- Binicio Oliveira- is originally from South America and attends junior college in Bellevue
