Osvaldo Alonso Headed to Sounders FC

Cuba Missing Players SoccerAdrian Hanauer has confirmed that Cuban defector Osvaldo Alonso is heading to Sounders FC. Alonso was the USL-1 rookie of the year this past season as a player for the Charleston Battery.

He is a 5′11″ midfielder who just turned 23 in November. He started all 31 games for the Battery last year and notched 7 goals and 2 assists.

Alonso was the captain of the Cuban Olympic Team in 2004 and defected in July 2007 during the Gold Cup.

It is uncertain if Seattle claimed the Cuban National Teamer via the MLS Discovery Process.
