MLS Stadium Tour: Home Depot Center
This weekend Sounders FC take their second trip on the road as they head to Carson, CA to play in the Home Depot Center against Chivas USA.

Seattle will be making three trips to the HDC this season as the imbalanced schedule has the Sounders playing at Chivas USA twice; the Center is also home for the LA Galaxy.
Besides being the home for the two MLS clubs, the Home Depot Center is also the training headquarters for the US National Team and the LA Sol of the Women’s Professional League.
The Center has a natural grass pitch, so this will be the first time that the Sounders will be playing on that surface this year.
Built as a soccer specific stadium, The HDC has a capacity of 27,000 and opened in 2003.
In the four years of playing at the Home Depot Center, Chivas USA has averaged an attendance of about 16,300. They averaged 15,114 in 2008.
Since 2005, Chivas USA sports a 31-19-23 record at The Center in all matches (friendly, league, and playoffs).
So far this season, Chivas USA defeated the Colorado Rapids and the Columbus Crew both by a score of 2-1 on their home pitch. They are averaging 14,640 in attendance.
A number of Sounders have recorded time at the Home Depot Center.
- Nate Jaqua has played there 14 times- with 2 goals to his credit
- Tyrone Marshall has played 59 regular season games at HDC. He’s scored 4 goals and added 3 assists
- Brad Evans scored one of his six career goals in Carson
- Peter Vagenas, has played 71 times at HDC since it opened in 2003- all with the LA Galaxy
Supporter Groups: Chivas USA is cheered on by a pair of supporters groups that sit at opposite ends of The Home Depot Center for Red-and-White home games. The Union Ultras, founded in 2007 as a Chivas USA-specific supporters group, sit behind the South goal in the stadium (right-hand side from the Press Box) for every home match that the Red-and-White play. On the opposite end (left-hand side from the Press Box) is the Legión 1908, which was founded in 2001 as the Los Angeles chapter of the worldwide Chivas de Guadalajara supporters’ organization. The Los Angeles chapter is the third biggest Legión 1908 group, trailing only Mexico City and Guadalajara in size.
