sorry for the late post, for the 5 of you that were waiting for it, i am sorry for the delay. for the rest of you that are like “never missed it”, well then you can stop reading any time….

Sounders FC Gain 1-1 Draw with Crew

Crew Sounders SoccerFrom Sounders FC- Nate Jaqua scored the tying goal in the 58th minute to earn the Seattle Sounders FC a 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew Saturday night at Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field.

Columbus opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the match on a lunging header by Alejandro Moreno. Jed Zayner slipped the ball up the right flank for Pat Noonan, whose cross found Moreno open at the far post for the finish past Sounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller.

Early in the second half, Freddie Ljungberg lobbed a ball behind the Columbus defense for Jaqua’s 10-yard volley to the upper left corner of the net. Read more

Expect Future Open Cup Games @ Starfire

Sounders FC General Manager Adrian Hanauer noted yesterday that fans could expect to see the Third Round match of the US Open Cup to be played at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.

He noted that if the club wins and hosts a USOC Quarterfinal match, that would be at Starfire too.

Sounders FC “would eventually consider” moving Semifinal and Final matches of the US Open Cup to Qwest.

US Open Cup Bracket Released

With yesterday’s win over Colorado, Seattle has earned their spot in the US Open Cup. Today, the organization released the bracket.

Holding one of the 8 spots allocated to MLS clubs, the Sounders have a direct route to the Third Round.

The other 4 squads in Seattle’s pod are: Kitsap Pumas (Premier Development League), Portland Timbers (USL-1), Orange County Blue Star (PDL), and Sonoma County Sol (USASA reg IV). Read more
