A Look at the MLS Playoff Race
As yamsmos noted, if the Sounders find themselves in the MLS Postseason they are getting some help and as Laurie mentioned, maybe we have some Voodoo Magic here.
Currently, the Top 4 spots conveniently play out to the point that the Top 2 fromt he East and the West get automatic entries. The next 4 spots are wildcards and if the season ended today, 3 would come from the West.
SportsClubStats gives Seattle a 70.14% chance of making the Playoffs.
We’ll spit out our Sounders Fans Weekend Rooting Guide later this week, but Sounders Fans are rooting for…
- FC Dallas to defeat the New England Revolution on Wednesday night
Anyways, here is your current MLS Table with Columbus’s clinched spot in italics… Read more
Montero up for Goal of the Week … Again

Fredy Montero‘s 30+ yard goal from the 6th minute of Saturday’s loss in New England is up for MLS’s Goal of the Week.
we might get by with a little help from our enemies
even with just a few games to go, the playoff picture is quite hazy. but one thing is for sure, if we do get in, a huge part of it will be down to those we are battling against losing.
san jose, who hasn’t won a game in 20 on the road, beat DC last night. this result was HUGE and could have sealed their fate. that loss dropped their playoff % chances from about 60% down to 38%. yet another result this weekend in our favor. largely down to that key loss, our playoff chances are sitting around 70%, with us grabbing the last spot. a huge gap then appears with DC in 9th spot at that 38% number**
So while an implosion from a team at the top is still possible, it is safe to assume Houston, LAG, Crew and Chicago are in (crew the only team to truly clinch a spot. I also am going to throw in Chivas in that mix, yes they still have to win their games hand, but if they do they sit top of the west. So realistically, that leaves about 6 teams fighting it out for the last 3 spots. And they are Read more

blame that one on calabro and riley
calabro b/c he said no less than 34 times how great the sounders are after going a goal ahead. and riley b/c he forgot to keep his line and was 4 yards behind the line keeping joseph onside.
we got the some of the results we needed across the MLS tonight, but we couldn’t capitalize. LAG lost, toronto only got a point, RSL lost and colorado only got a point. 3 points for us would have been massive and would have all but guaranteed a playoff spot. a draw would not have been terrible b/c we could have kept the 4 points between us and the revolution. but we couldn’t muster either.
a few quick thoughts and then a few more beers for my sorrows. Read more
