Match 30: FC Dallas
The Sounders return to Qwest Field on Saturday to take on the surging squad from Dallas in the MLS Regular Season finale for both clubs.
FC Dallas (11-12-6, 39) is on the outside looking into the MLS Playoffs. Meanwhile Seattle and their 44 points have clinched a spot in the playoffs and are looking to claim the West title with a win and some luck.
When we say surging, we mean a 4-Game Win streak (and 5 of 6) for the Hoops which has squarely put them in Playoff contention with 3 other clubs for the 8th and final spot.
The Texas club brings Jeff Cunningham, who is leading MLS with 17 goals.
Seattle is seeking a win to firm up their positioning in the MLS table. Fredy Montero is leading Seattle with 12 goals as the Sounders hope to find the back of the net at Qwest- something they haven’t done since the 11th of July. In case you don’t want to the math, that’s 585 minutes of scoreless play by the boys in Rave Green in MLS and friendly competition.
Sounder Designated Player Freddie Ljungberg is the reigning MLS Player of the Week; he missed the first match with Dallas on May 16th when he was out with migraines.
Here is a quick look at how the stat leaders for both teams stack up…

Toledo sent Ljungberg off (Rod Marr photo)
For those keeping track, the main man in the middle will be Baldomero Toledo- the ref who looks like Eddie Munster. Toledo also issued the yellow card caution to Ljungberg in the 0-0 draw against the Chicago Fire… and then quickly sent our favorite Swede off of the pitch for arguing the call.
Kickoff is set for 730p on the Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field. It will be Fan Appreciation Day.
Tickets are available from Season Ticket Holders.
