Who Do You Want to Win the MLS Cup? [Poll]

The MLS Cup will be here in Seattle at Qwest Field on November 22nd (kickoff is at 530p). Tickets are still available.

Are you rooting for Houston, because they ended the Sounders’ season? Are you cheering on the Fire because you like to watch Blanco dive? Are favoring with LA because, well, they are LA? Or are you hoping that Real Salt Lake wins so you can see Kyle Beckerman’s Sideshow Bob hair some more?

Who do you want to win? Vote!

Who do you want to win the MLS Cup?

  • Real Salt Lake (30.0%, 34 Votes)

Personally, I am rooting for the LA Galaxy to win the Cup over the Chicago Fire. No, I am not a Landycakes or Beckham fan, but I think that result raises the profile of the MLS Cup and of MLS itself to a much wider net in the US.

Luckily, LA & Chicago are the two top highest seeds in the East and West, so they are the “best” teams out there (so I don’t seem like a media whore). The highlights will be on ESPN, it willmake news; in the US and overseas. Imagine if Houston and Real Salt Lake are in the Championship??? Zzzz- it will get zero media attention- and let’s face it, more [positive] media attention IS a good thing- for MLS and soccer in the USA.

i agree on the LA chicago thing. it is kind of a lame reason to route for two teams… but an LA Chicago game sells out EASILY and gets the season ticket holders to use or sell their C ticket.

a houston RSL game gets 20,000 there max and that just doesn’t look good for the sport….

  • K61

It appears to be sold out on ticketmaster unless you only want one seat.

  • budbud

Considering that HOU only could muster 6 traveling fans last week, I’m going for LA-CHI so I can sell my tickets.

Since I’m originally from the Chicagoland area, I have to give props to the Fire for getting this far. Good team and a perfect match up will be LA vs Chicago.
    Cheers!

It may be sold out on Ticketbastard, but after Sunday there are TONS of tickets on stubhub and ebay.

it is the season ticket holders that may be the problem…. if it is houston v RSL, there could be HUGE pockets of empty seats.

Easily the most depressing post I’ve ever seen on this site.

    It’s a process of elimination for me…

Galaxy? No. Can’t stand Becky boy. Do people really think he’s attractive? I do like Donovan, but he only seems to play really good when he’s on the USMNT…
Dynamo? No, they ended the Sounders run… It’s not that I particularly hate them, I just can’t root for them for the rest of this year…
Fire? Can’t stand Blanco flopping all over the place. I’d say he’s just slightly worse then Becky Boy on the Galaxy. And only because he runs all over the place. You’d think he’d be in better shape moving all over the field and not letting other players play their positions…
So, I guess that leaves RSL. I can’t honestly say I know that much about them. But that’s good, because there’s less there for me not to like…

Really, I just hope it’s a sell out and that there’s some good football played. I don’t care who will be there, but I will be watching.

This is a joke. “Imagine if Houston or Real Salt Lake were in the Championship???Zzzz…” Are you kidding? If Seattle were in it we would be all over it like we’ve been all year round. But if you think ESPN and the rest of the county would be shaking with anticipation, you really don’t get it. It’s the respect thing and we won’t get it. This year. And trust me I hope we do soon. A couple of new Northwest expansion teams and more Sounder greatness and bada bing we maybe setting the pace for US soccer. But for now, don’t expect the country to care much if Seattle, Houston, or Salt Lake are in the Championship.
Therefore, as a spanking brand new soccer fan and Sounder Season Ticket holder, watching a Championship match with US National Team players actaully seems like another great time in SODO. So an LA/Chicago game could be good cause Chicagos’ dirty and at least LA has a USNT starter to watch.

Go ahead and sell your ticket, but you’ll miss a great soccer match in front of a sellout croud.

My advice to you would be take a Jagey shot and drink a BudLight and get you ass down there!!

yo, mike wasn’t saying he wasn’t going, he was saying that the attention wouldn’t be there. that is a fact my friend. like it or not.

and us soccer and mls could use the attention. it is an uphill battle. and i agree with mike, i would prefer chi and LAG for the attention alone in the national media.

    Toadqua Reply:

The attention wouldn’t be there if Seattle were in it either. That is a fact my friend.

    yamsmos Reply:

couldn’t disagree more.  seems like you would rather watch landycakes than your own team!!

you have every national pundit from ives to fox soccer report talking about how great the sounders season has been, how well the club has been run, not to mention the first rookie club since chicago to make it to the playoffs.

oh, and we have broken all sorts of attendance records, played some great attacking football (especially for the MLS) and boast one of the best defences in the league.

i have friends in london asking about the sounders. other teams players continuously say how amazing it is to play at qwest. oh, and we won the USOC.

how you can say seattle in the final, especially at home, wouldn’t be a big story in US soccer…??? well i guess that is your opinion, but i have loads of reasons to believe that it wouldn’t be the case…

love or hate the sounders, we have been THE story this year. or does a good story only include a team from LA or NY or CHI??

keep pushing my buttons with this crap b/c i will be sure to bite.

    Mark Reply:

I have to agree yamsmos on this one, you are way off target Toadqua.
How can you say there wouldn’t be more attention on a Sounders game when people around the world have paid more attention to MLS due to the Sounders?

Everyone wants to watch the USMNT best goalie, Kasey Keller.  He may be old, but he can still rock your body. Also, Europe can’t get enough of the ex-Arsenal player Ljungberg … have you seen his underwear ads?  The Sounders being on TV has already sent Swedish girls running to their TV’s just to watch Ljundberg do warm-up stretches.  Having them in the playoffs would have definitely increased attention in the MLS.  That, my friend, is a fact!

    Toadqua Reply:

Yeah, well whatever. It’s seems you are still crying in your beer.

I’ll let you greeve. But Seattle’s not in it this year and we have to go watch someone. So watching both LA and CHI’s faces when they see all the Rave Green and hear that crowd chant Seattle Sounders would be sweet. That doesn’t mean I like LA. Heck, I’m the guy hoping for the big earthquake that slides California off into the Pacific. And, Chicago, … please, what a pathetic town.

You and Mike are stomping on the wrong guy. I was just posting a response to the question and trying to make a point that when it comes to sports in the NW, there’s a big difference when it comes to the whole respect and national enthusiasm thing.

    Maybe soccer will change that.

  • Avocat

I think we should all show up in Rave Green, which can’t be mistaken for the handful of travelling fans from the teams who will be playing.

  • Artesian

If the Fire make it, no matter who they play has to be the choice of true Sounders fans. The despicable actions of the Fire/Timbers fans at Qwest should make it 99% to 1% fan support for anyone playing the Fire. Screw Chicago and their pathetic fans.  I’m hoping for L.A. to take it all.

  • http://www.twitter.com/randymeeker Randy

I really hope that the stadium is packed regardless of who plays. I think it’s very important for fans to show up even though Seattle isn’t in it. If Qwest looks empty, it could make the league think twice about bringing the Cup back to Seattle in the future. It could also impact the city’s chances of hosting the World Cup in 2018 or 2022. If you care about such things, please go if you have tickets. If you are in a charitable mood and don’t want to go, please donate your tickets to me. ;)

Can’t stand LA, RSL shouldn’t have even made it to the playoffs (worst away game record in the league but they are rewarded a seed into the playoffs? GG MLS), and Houston is..well Houston. Onstad? That game on Sunday? Hello?

Voting for the Fire for this one. The Chi vs. NE game last week was actually a blast to watch, and I don’t really say that often when speaking of non-Sounders MLS games.

  • Artesian

Good point Randy, I GAVE my Chelski ticket away to a Sounders fan because I couldn’t go. Where’s the love comin’ back? LOL!

  • Artesian

You root for the Fire you’re not a Sounders fan. might as well just root for Portscum traitor.

  • Artesian

Maybe a bit harsh on the traitor comment, but really, after what those tools pulled at Qwest I can’t fathom a real Sounders fan wanting the Fire to do anything but die in one figuratively.

  • Joe

I’ll be lucky to come out of the fetal position i’ve been in since Sunday by the 22nd.

  • Gary B.

I’m either rooting for LA or against Houston.

  • Artesian

    LMAO @ Joe! THAT’S a FAN baby!

  • budbud

WAY off topic but I talked with a Sounders Ticket rep yesterday, and he confirmed a few things regarding 2010 seating:  Hawks Nest to remain CLOSED (and also said it would NEVER be a visitors section).

GA section to remain the same config in the south end.  Gorilla FC goes to 120.

  • Green apple

Whatever happens, I think its super important that we all show up for the finals (preferably in rave green). or its an opportunity to introduce some of our friends to soccer.

I wont be in town, so i am giving away the tickets to my friends who haven’t been to qwest field before.

Even if you are not interested in watching this game nor were able to sell the tickets, please don’t burn them. This is an opportunity to introduce more people to soccer in Seattle.
Also having a full qwest for the final has other benefits for sounders fan esp when it comes to hosting the world cup in USA/Seattle.

  • Rowan

    I’m voting for Not-Houston.

  • jt

Fetal position?  Wow Joe, time for a few beers and some low key singing.  If I can get over this flu – giving your all can cause illness – we need to start sewing tifo for next season :)
