RSL wins MLS Cup

so if you want to know the parity of the MLS… well a below .500 team knocks off the best team in the regular season, and then the next best team in the east, and then the best team in the west.

i have no love for RSL, but congrats to them, they deserved it with the performances the put in the last 4 games.

and poor landy cakes…. he won the MVP trophy, but couldn’t hit the frame. i almost feel sorry for the guy.

almost.

    MVP huh?  Suck it, Donovan.

  • Joe

US Nat’l Team is so screwed next summer it’s not even funny. Landy reminded us why tonight.

  • Mark

Beckinsale and Landycakes couldn’t pull off the win…

I was rooting for LA but I have to hand it to RSL for playing a great game.  Either team deserved to win that game.  It was probably one of the most exciting games of the season.  Very fast paced and aggressive with little referee intervention.

I think Landon didn’t kiss his hands enough times before the PK… it blew his whole ritual and timing.  Doesn’t he know anything about superstitions?!  You have to follow them exactly!

Well, there’s no one on RSL I hate, so I was rooting for them the whole time. Strange thing about Donovan… I hate him when he plays for Galaxy, but like him when he plays USMNT. It’s feels like he’s two separate people…

Beckham? Can’t stand the guy. Glad he’s not on Sounders.

I was all about rooting for LA…until I got there and their entire supporters section was right behind us. What a bunch of heinous excuses for human beings and a horrible stamp on American soccer. Hucking beer, grabbing and screaming obscenitites at any person that walked by. The cops converged on them a handful of times during the match, it was pretty absurd. So in the end I couldn’t help but yell my heart out for RSL.

I don’t know…I figured that, if we couldn’t hoist the cup at home (a longshot chance in our first year, but one we’ll probably never get again), I’d at least like to see it go to a team that had done better than us in the regular season.  Somehow, having it go to a team that finished well below us rubs it in even more — damn it, we could have been there!

  • Steve

If you just were a fan of the MLS and had no team in that game, there was no better way to have that game go, then to PKs.  Wow.  I am glad beckinsale got to see  the Seattle crowd and what the future of the MLS will be.

Other that it was Colder than …….  it was fun to watch.  What impressed me the most is how well RSL showed up.  There were some chartered buses that made the 17 hour drive.  Congrats to those who put in to support their boys.

I’m disappointed in how the LA fans in the corner were acting – cops having to step in when you have the $ side on the pitch – wtf?  Support your boys, but don’t get into it with the locals – you’re not playing us.

Qwest Field / StaffPro needs to step back and take in what happened – that was the largest group of traveling supporters that they had to deal with.  Next year expect more of the same, but expect it to be larger when Portland & Vancouver get in.

  • RSL FAN

I was so impressed with the city of seattle, but more so with the fan support for your team, all teams would be lucky to have fans like you guys!! I really mean that. Thanks for hosting the cup, for those who cheered for RSL thanks again!
