USSF decision and what it means to the Sounders
The USSF has effectively told that USL and NASL have been given a week to get their act together.
Montero to Europe?
The rumors have been floating since before he even dressed in the Rave Green kit- that Fredy Montero would head to Europe. And those rumors are back again.
Jose Romero has uncovered a story from a Colombian TV station that a transfer from the Emerald City to Europe is in the plans for the Colombian Striker.
No specific team or country is noted; though Montero would play for clubs in England, the Netherlands, Italy, or Spain.
Montero played in 27 games during the 2009 Campaign. He scored 12 goals for Sounders FC and added 7 assists.
What do you think? Will Montero be in Rave Green when the season starts in March?

Brad Evans to Join National Team Camp
From Sounders FC… Brad Evans has been invited to the U.S. National Team annual winter training camp, to be held in Carson, California, beginning January 4. Evans, 24, is one of 30 mostly domestic-based players being called to U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center at The Home Depot Center.
Evans, a regular midfield starter for Seattle in 2009, earned his first three international caps during last summer’s Gold Cup, starting one match and coming off the bench in two others.
After being selected by Seattle in the expansion draft, Evans played in 27 games, starting 25, despite being absent for a month during his Gold Cup call-in. He scored three goals and added two assists.
The training camp will conclude on January 23 with the U.S. hosting Honduras at The Home Depot Center in a friendly matchup of two World Cup-bound teams. The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision beginning at 4 p.m. PT. Read more

weekend soccer bits and stuff
are you guys as starved for something good to talk about as i am? if the recent weeks posts have been, sub par (and that is putting it nicely) well sorry bout that.
if you are expecting this to be any better, well you are not in luck. it isn’t. but i have to type something up to get rid of that lando pic from being the first thing you see.
so what to talk about… well ok, i can’t not comment on AC Milan drawing ManU. of course this sees beckham visiting Old Trafford. the english press is going batty over this story, but i isn’t really all that interesting is it? i guess for some. the rest of the draw also see’s some interesting ties, specifically the special ones inter heading to Chelsea… wouldn’t it be quite funny from 100 different angles if inter gets kicked out of the champions league and it results in his job?
here is the full draw with my pick (in bold) on the winners…i play it safe i know
landy cakes loan… i like it
when i first heard the rumors about a landon donovan loan deal to everton my initial thoughts were “ruh roh”
i assumed (yeah ”ass, U and Me” and all that) that it was a becks type deal all over again. not that i care what happens to galaxy, but i did fear that it would start to become the norm for the better mls players to seak out this type of deal. i am sure there are plenty of european teams willing to pay the lowly MLS wages for a short 6 month loan spell to see if players like hurtado, montero et al can make it in the upper (even lower) flight leagues in europe with practically no other obligation. nice little option for them to see if they can cut it actually.
i guess i can see why the MLS lets goldenballs do what he wants by missing out on almost 1/2 a season, but if that became any kind of trend, it would be very worrying and would actually devalue the league, in a “hey europe, we like to grab our ankles, do with us what you will” kind of way.
but, this donovan move isn’t that

Let’s Discuss a Third Kit
Seattle Fans love the Rave Green Jerseys and others enjoy the success in Sounder Blue, but the discussion of a possible third kit always brings out everyone’s opinions. Especially the all-white commemorative kit.
Earlier this week Sounders FC General Manager Adrian Hanauer was asked about a cascade shale alternated jersey to which he replied, “I can’t promise shale grey but there might be a little surprise in the jersey category coming this summer.”
Is this a gimmick for the jersey sales? That’s possible. But according to CONCACAF Champions League Rules: Read more
