what the hell to talk about

well, it is dead out there…. and you are being kind to me by commenting on my top ten lists, but lets face it, they are obvious and pretty crap.

but what else we got?

maybe it is ok that there isn’t much. a recoup period is ok at times. it allows us to come back raring and refreshed come the start of the new season. as a fan i am all for that, but writing for this blog, i feel somewhat obgligated to keep the news/opinion/ banter going. maybe i shouldn’t… but i do.

so what the hell should we do?   the only things going right now are the world cup draw and ronaldo’s pouting after he missed a PK (even though benzema scored off the rebound). what an ass is he? i hated that guy before he went to RM and now i hate him even more. if anyone comes on here and talks about his skill as a reason to like him then name the place where i can come to fight you b/c that amount of arrogance just cannot and should not be tollerated.

looking for all serious, and pure jesting responses.

How about we make up the news stories?  The right wing media does it all the time.

Victoria Beckham was caught by police in a three-way with Landon Donavan and Tom Arnold under the santa monica peir.

We should have a GoSounders.com social event.  By social I mean drinking.  Because what else are we going to do with all this down time?

    Brian Reply:

Why is it that whenever somebody says anything about drinking or beer I start licking my lips?  It’s 8 o’clock in the morning  just starting my work day and I’m already licking my lips, is something wrong with me?

maybe do some research on the allocation spots or the Super Draft? I really doubt we are going to get an allocation player until after the world cup if at all possible.

I don’t know the super draft players, Zakuani was pretty easy, #1 scorer gets the #1 drafting spot.

The list of college and Ga players invited to the MLS Combine should be out soon. The list came out on Dec 10 last year. Then the pundits start posting their mock drafts.

By which I’m pretty sure Ron means:  Everybody copies Buzz Carrick.  ;-)

Or you could always do what I do:  Post photos of Freddie in his underwear, along with slightly bizarre invitations to the team to my family’s Felliniesque holiday dinners.

I really hope the season begins before the restraining orders start arriving.  :-)

Gotta say I agree with Laurie on posting Freddie pictures! ;)

Or we could go REALLY crazy and try to sell two Chicago Fire jerseys we have left over from the Supporters Summit… the money would go to Seattle Children’s :)

    Brian Reply:

How about you take some pictures of bums wearing those Fire jerseys and sell the pictures?

We could talk about the following things:
    1) Revising the official club name to Sounders FC b/c Seattle Sounders FC is too long, too arduous, too much of a mouth full and we’ll be just as easily identified by Sounders FC. It’s like Arsenal…where the f*ck are they from? It’s not that hard.
    2) Open the Hawk’s Nest b/c there needs to be a more inexpensive season ticket option as well as a good matchday walk-up option for general spectators as well as certain groups, such as Latinos. It’s great that the FO has opened up more season tickets, but look at the cost of those seats. Doesn’t it make sense to let those who are curious about the Sounders walk up and buy some tickets and experience the passion and momentum for themselves? Most of them will convert. And other clubs are starting to achieve traction with groups such as Latinos b/c, while they might not buy season tickets, there is the opportunity to at least get them in the stadium and allow them to a) connect with the team, b) begin to support the team in the fun and unique ways they know and understand.

There are more…this is a start.

As to #2 – drop it.  Not going to happen.  Microsoft pays a LOT of money to have their signage up there, more than anyone is willing to pay for a season ticket.  As for gameday availability, there is a point when things sell out.  It’s called supply and demand, and there is nothing the FO can do on it.

Opening up seats that may or may not sell isn’t in their interest or the interest of the existing season ticket holders.  Want to get someone interested without committing 4 months out?  Take them to the march to the match, and watch the game in one of the bars there in Pioneer Square.

Rumor is that the march is going from 90 minutes before kick to 60 minutes.  Hopefully they will match up the gates opening to that as well.

    Topics encouraged:
    - What are you doing to fill the gap?  What did you do last Saturday at 4pm? (I was at Le Toux’s toast)
    - Away games you’d like to see next season
    - WorldCup 2010 and the US bids for 2018 and 2022
-What is your take on the existing supporter groups, are you involved with any of them, and if not, what would change that?

Just thing, if we were on the FIFA calendar, how much would we be bitching about the freezing pitch!
