Sounders’ Mystery Match on March 11th
Are you craving the opportunity to watch Sounders FC in action? Can you wait until Philadelphia heads to the Emerald City on March 25th?
Well, you may not have to wait that long…
This Wednesday (2/10) tickets will go on sale at 10a on Ticketmaster for a Seattle Sounders FC match at QWEST Field on Thursday, March 11th against a mystery opponent. Kickoff is slated for 6p.
Tickets will be priced at $10, so who could the mystery opponent be?
It is highly unlikely that it this is one of the three International Friendlies that were promised to the Season Ticket Holders. Along with the relatively low admission fee, the logistics and hype would be severely limited with only a 1 month lead up to a match with a large, well-known opponent. Plus, the European & South American Leagues are in full swing.
- Will this be another benefit like the Charity Shield?
- Could it be a scrimmage with another MLS squad? Last year, the Sounders held a closed scrimmage with Colorado two weeks before First Kick.
- Could it be an intra squad scrimmage?
- Could it be a scrimmage with a local USSF 2nd Division Team? The Sounders will be taking on Vancouver in Arizona this week so it could it be Part II? How about a scrimmage with the Portland Timbers?
