Sounders Head North to Take on Whitecaps

The Sounders will head north to British Columbia to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday as they play in their first training match since returning from Spain’s La Manga Cup.

Seattle is 3-1-0 in the pre-season including a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the same Whitecaps on February 11th behind a pair of goals from Sanna Nyassi (including an 88th minute game-winner) and 1 from Lamar Neagle.

In that first meeting between the two clubs in Arizona, Vancouver got goals from Cornelius Stewart and Ansu Toure. Teitur Thordarson’s club is bolstered by those two as well as 3 USL All-League players from last season; defender Nelson Akwari and midfielders Ricardo Sánchez and Jonny Steele. The Whitecaps have also added Chris Williams a Canadian International, and former MLS players; defenders Greg Janicki (DC United) and Blake Wagner (FC Dallas).

The game kicks off at 4p from Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.
