The Sounders traveled north to take on the Whitecaps in British Columbia and walked away with scoreless draw.

Game Summary

BURNABY, British Columbia – The Seattle Sounders FC are now 3-1-1 in preseason play after a scoreless draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday afternoon at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium.

The Sounders FC came out aggressive in the offensive third early in the game but could not score a goal.

The Sounders were whistled for six offsides in the first half, putting a halt to several scoring opportunities, including a header by Steve Zakuani in the 15th minute that found the back of the net. In the 27th minute, Freddie Ljungberg beat Vancouver’s defense on the left side of the box but was also ruled offsides.

I love how there was about 1,000 Sounders supporters there and we were way louder than the caps fans.  However we did have a dozen 10 year olds trying to heckle us.  Actually the only reason the caps fan would cheer anything is if their mascot “Winger” would hold up a sign.  He tried to heckle us a few times but we just threaten to send him to KFC.

We look damn good in blue

ahh no you had 200 don’t bullsh!t, and you got put under the roof which ecos your chants plus the grandstand is full of family members , you are also in MLS which means you have the new bandwagon fans(prolly including yourself) we actually got more fans to games in USL that you did so shut it, also I know for a fact a bunch of the southsider including me couldn’t make it to the game because of other duties.

Okay you just admited that you were not there so how do you know how many sounders fans were there?

Now I will admit that there was no official count of how many people were for which team, but there were about 200 Sounders fan in the first 5 rows of section F, but I looked throughout the rest of the stands and I estimate 1 in 4 were wearing green except in the South End.  I will that 1000 fans a margin of error of plus or minus 200, but there was a lot of us there.

Actually my estimate is low compaired to Prost Amerika who esitmated the crowd at half sounders.

Now I know it was a pre-season un-friendly and the tickets weren’t part of any season ticket package but I was still shocked to see that the game wasn’t sold out.  Swangard is so small that it should have been easy to sell out even with 1,000 Sounders fans there.

we will see whos louder next year

    Chris… woulda coulda shoulda.

    1. You can’t estimate the crowd of a game you weren’t at.
    2. Don’t blame the stadium acoustics for your poor team support.
    3. Bandwagon or no bandwagon, we still have +32,000 loyal fans.
    4. Who cares that you had more fans in your lower division?  I personally did not enjoy USL soccer.  I appreciate the level of play much more in the MLS.
    5. Don’t question another supporter when you didn’t support your own team.
