The New York Red Bulls got a 21st minute goal from Macoumba Kandji’s left foot to down the Sounders 1-0 in front of 36,066 on Saturday night.
Seattle (1-0-1, 3pts) outshot New York 17-10 but none of them reached the back of the net. The Red Bulls had not won on the road in 27 tries; a streak that dated back to May 2008.
