In what probably feels like a loss for most Sounders fans, the defending MLS Cup Champions used an extra-time time header from Alvaro Saborio to gain a draw against Sounders FC.

Seattle (1-1-1, 4pts) got on the board first with an 11th Minute Goal from Steve Zakuani who was fed from Fredy Montero before sliding the ball past Real Salt Lake netminder, Nick Rimando.

Carrying the lead into the second half, Will Johnson equaled the score at 1 in the 53rd minute.

The Boys in Rave Green, took back the lead in the 72nd minute as Freddie Ljungberg place a free kick from 25 yards out in front of the Real Salt Lake goal for Tyrone Marshall to direct in (but was later recorded as an RSL Own Goal).

With a 2-1 lead in Stoppage Time, the road win was looking good until Saborio’s 95th minute goal.

Seattle hosts Kansas City next Saturday at Qwest Field. [Buy Tickets]

Another goal conceded by a set piece. Rough way to tie.

Kind of feels like a “L”

I’m still scratching my head… how was that a corner in the first place?!  Was there a deflection on the ball to Keller?  I didn’t see one!  If he caught it out of bounds it would be a goal kick.  It definitely looked like his momentum of catching it didn’t take the ball out of bounds.  AND… why didn’t he let it go out of bounds to waste a few more seconds off the clock?  He didn’t even argue the call though, so I thought I must be wrong.  Was there a deflection?

I was thinking the same thing, it looked like Keller had only just caught the ball when the whistle blew. So I assumed it was a goal kick.
Good to see us converting some though.

i was shocked when i saw 4 mins of extra time. didnt seem like there shouldve been close to that much. that brought on a bad feeling in my stomach right from the start of extra time.
