New England @ SSFC – 7:30pm
It’s time for payback. A team who took both matches in 2009 is here, and we’re looking to party. New England comes in a damaged team, having lost yet another keeper this season. Former USL Sounder keeper Preston Burpo was lost for the rest of the year when he broke his leg in two places last weekend. Matt Reis, who has been on the disabled list since April is back active, but his off season surgery to both his left shoulder and left knee may not have him starting.
Hopefully we will get a chance to see Nyassi v Nyassi in this game, as the twins have yet to face off in MLS play. We are at 266 minutes played since our last goal at home (in MLS play). All 3 wins by the Sounders have been against East teams, and the Rev’s are sitting middle of the table. We have great control box to box, but that whole finishing thing may cause a few line up changes after the lack of play we saw last week in Colorado.
If you want to spend some time chewing the FIFA rules, as viewed by USSF, check out the hand ball write up in this week in review. Also remember the ‘Roos are playing the USMNT in the final World Cup friendly, and ECS is celebrating their custom micro brew, Brougham Bitter. Mariners are playing the early game, so expect traffic.
Now only if we could get to 75 degrees…
