Matt Gaschk noted that Sounders FC designated player Freddie Ljungberg has suffered an ankle injury.

The injury will not require surgery and Ljungberg has not been added to the Injured Reserve, but he will not be available for Sunday’s match against FC Dallas.

He’s totally been sold and waiting for the 7/15 window.

No Freddie wow I don’t think so

  • Gee

    OH SHOOT nAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT

  • Randle

I was thinkin the same thing.  Seems too bold a move for the FO tho.

  • Anthony

    Hm…bad news…but hello Montano?

  • gstommylee

Why too bold of a move. It does make sense in a way. If seattle wants to add players seattle has to move someone to open roster space for the incoming players.

Don’t think (nor want) management would sell Ljundberg, he’s not had a stellar season but he’s still our best player. for this game, I would like to seea midfield of
Zak – Seamon – Alonso (he may play) – Montano.

can you imagine the speed of Zak and Monty (that’s riight, I called him Monty) on the wings?

  • gstommylee

He can still fetch for at  least a couple million in transfer fee.

  • Ben

Yeah I think they have to weigh what they can get for him now in transfer vs his value for 1/2 of an already crummy season. He’s a free transfer at the end of the season. It is probably the right thing to do as it frees up a ton of salary cap space for us immediately.

The other big deal for cap space will be if the continued rumors of Montero to Russia finally pan out next week as well.

It’s very exciting to think about what players we might be getting. It may or may not make us better overall, but at least it makes this drab season more colorful.

Adrian said in Don Ruiz’s interview, that some players took last year’s success to be ‘a high water mark’ as opposed to the normal level of play.  Recently, FL blogged that he thought that last season as a positive aberration.

Seems like they aren’t at all on the front page.  Maybe he’s gone.  He’s not been helpful this year.
