Sounders Defeat Mexican Chivas in Friendly
The Sounders got on the board early and never looked back as they took on Chivas de Guadalajara at Qwest Field on Tuesday Evening en route to a 3-1 victory.
Mike Fucito started the scoring in the 5th minute, as he received a nicely slid pass from Roger Levesque at the top of the 18. The Harvard man slid it under Chivas CD goalkeeper Luis Michel to go up 1-0.
13 minutes later, Fucito started the combination by playing a ball wide to the left flank which Levesque ran onto to cross to a streaking Nate Jaqua who headed the ball home from six yards out.
Chivas got on the board in the 70th and cut the lead in half when Marco Fabian beat Sounders FC trialist Akeem Adams and headed the ball past Terry Boss.
Adams is a 19-year old Trinidad and Tobago national team defender who has been trialing with Seattle for the past week.
The Sounders ended their scoring tally in the 90th minute. Following up a 35 yard blast by Fredy Montero that rattled the woodwork, Man of the past 8 days, Sanna Nyassi, cleaned up the rebound to put the Sounders up 3-1.
The crowd of 41,047 was a mixed combination of Sounders and Chivas supporters and was the 4th largest to see the Sounder play.
