i actually wrote this last night, but didn’t hit “publish” and just noticed… let’s just say the synapses weren’t firing much late night, and even less so this morning. ugh… oh well, here we go.

i haven’t had the time for my last haircut to grow out, but here we go again… great clips here i come as the sounders put on a first half clinic and we took down NE 3-0. not to take the luster off a great game and great result, but i am a little afraid that it was a bit more of a case of NE being really crap vs us being really good. still, you have to take advantage of those games and we did. The Sounders celebrate Leo Gonzalez's goal (Getty Images)

Seattle scored 3 first half goals on Saturday Night to defeat New England. It was the Sounders first win at Qwest Field since April 17th.

Sounders FC (4-5-3, 15 pts) got on the scoreboard in the 5th minute when Leo Gonzalez scored his first MLS goal on a beautiful left-footed volley after collecting a pass from Steve Zakuani. The shot deftly bent around Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth to the back post and started the momentum for the Rave Green.

19 minutes later, Fredy Montero‘s fast throw-in to Brad Evans set up a cross to Zakuani, who launched a blast from the 15 yards out that snuck under the cross bar to put Sounders FC up 2-0. It was a play that Sounders announcer, Arlo White,  described as “Champagne Football”. Read more

It’s time for payback.  A team who took both matches in 2009 is here, and we’re looking to party.  New England comes in a damaged team, having lost yet another keeper this season.  Former USL Sounder keeper Preston Burpo was lost for the rest of the year when he broke his leg in two places last weekend.  Matt Reis, who has been on the disabled list since April is back active, but his off season surgery to both his left shoulder and left knee may not have him starting. ok, i have calmed down

just a bit.

not sure i am going to wait overnight to post again. i think it is a needed stress release, especially after a loss. so as a result, i kept waking up last night with things to say or post or bitch about. and now, after waking up, changing a ridiculously stinky diaper, feeding the dog, going on a safari with my 3 year old… well i can’t remember any of it. but i am sure it was pulitzer prize quality.

to quote keller from last night “some guys gotta grow up”. how true that is. we had a new guy sitting with us last night who is a massive montero fan. when he told me that montero is the best player we have, i think my lack of poker face said it all, and that started the conversation. he asked me where i thought we would be without him. and you know what? it is a totally valid question. of course montero is the team leader in goals, and i can’t deny that, but there is this lack of maturity in his play that drives me nuts. you can just tell that he thinks he is great. what the hell is up with two colored shoes? there are about 5 players in the world that can justify the audacity to wear two different colored shoes. it says to me “i am so great, and i am going to score a hat trick on you”. well that would be all good and fine if indeed he would score a hat trick, but alas, it didn’t happen.

so then the pk happened. Read more

Sounders FC vs. New England Revolution Post Game Comments

Sounders FC Coach Sigi Schmid

General Comments: “This was obviously a disappointing game. When you play at home you want to win. I thought we carried the game, but at the end of the day you have to score goals. If you don’t score you don’t win. You need to score goals.”

On offense: “We had two or three clear opportunities. Guys had a little extra wiggle when they hit it. We keep wanting to beat the guy and get the shot rather than take the shot when we have some space.” Read more
