that was pathetic
and really, i have no other word for it. what a poor performance. yes, it is preseason, but we are only a few weeks away (maybe) from the season opener, and if that is the effort we are going to put forth, we are in trouble. Read more
Sounders Lose Scrimmage to Timbers
Portland got a 44th minute goal from Gabriel Obatoli on a sneak through pass by Ryan Pore to give the Timbers a 1-0 victory in the 1st annual Charity Shield match on Thursday night from Qwest Field in front of 18,600 fans.
The Sounders had their chances early, and often. In the 16th minute, Steve Zakuani a near-range shot saved by the Timber goalkeeper, Steve Cronin. Minutes later, the Portland netminder knocked away a free kick by forward Freddie Ljungberg taken from 25 yards away as the Timbers were setting up.
Play was even in the second half. But the Sounders applied a great deal of pressure in the final 20 minutes, including a long free kick by Fredy Montero in the 87th. Read more
portland, seattle’s tijuana
ok first of all, we are testing out a new “coherent rating system”. from time to time i have been known to post a beer fueled post or two. rare? indeed, but it does happen. so to help you decipher my drivel, and to help subdue the grammar police, i am going to institute a beer consumption barometor. the picture to the right should suggest to you that i have had somewhere between 6 or more beers this evening. hopefully it will help you understand, or at least forgive, my logic, spelling and intent.
so, we have a little game tonight eh? what to make of this game? yes, it is just a practice. but if you really believe that, well you are new to this rivalry.
this is portland, seattles tijuana. Read more

portland fans make 4 year old girls cry
had a dream last night, and it was weird. let me share.
it was march 11th and i had just picked up my 4 year old from preschool and we were on our way to the portland v seattle game at qwest. she was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited for her first game (this part is true, she bugs me daily about going to the sounders). so i was very happy for her and for me. what a great father/daughter bonding time.
the next thing i know we are already parked and walking towards the stadium. my daughter had my golden scarf held above her head (no idea how she got it), and is singing that rude arsenal song ”ten men went to bed” which is a play on chelseas “ten men went to mow” (if you don’t know the song you can do your own research). I couldn’t believe what was coming out of her mouth, but at the same time I was so proud of her footy vernacular, her ability to keep up on current football chants, and let’s be honest, even the biggest chelsea supporter can’t truly like ashley cole as a person. so deep down, i justified the song she was singing.
*one second, i have to stop here… someone just tapped me on the shoulder and handed me a Father of the Year award. i would like to thank everyone that voted for me.
ok, back to the dream*

portland tidbits and stuff
just got an urge to talk sounders/portland.
there have been questions floating about the game, and i will add color to what i know.
- will this game will be televised?… not at all. it is only a practice game, no matter how important it is to all of us. the fact is, a practice game just doesn’t draw ratings and for the most part, everyone that cares will already be there.
- is this part of our season tickets? nope
- why a practice game at qwest, and not the USOC or likely the CCL? Read more
