Every once in a while, Joe Towner (comments under jT) sends his photos in to GoSounders for us to use. We were shocked to read an article by Dave Clark that Joe is missing. After validating we were saddened.

Joe took his Sounders tickets for the Celtic match but was not present and has not given any indication he was leaving.  His girlfriend and family have made a missing persons report and would appreciate if you have heard from him since to please contact the Bellevue police department (425) 452-6917.

Well, we have decided to have some fun with it by starting a World Cup 2010 Pick ‘Em.

You pick the result and the score for the Group Stage matches, then do the same for the Knockout Stages. Participants earn points for correctly picking the outcome of the game. And bonuses are awarded for correctly guessing the final score of the game at the end of regulation or extra time.

If there are over 15 participants, we’ll have some sort of prize for the winner.

The game will be hosted by Yahoo! So you will need to direct all complaining to them.

has anyone signed up for that text message thing where you get texts from a sounder? well i did it a month ago and never got anything in return. i was so sad. but about an hour ago, i got a personal message from kasey keller. to think that he took the time out of his day to text me personally, is very touching. i think he may be in training actually so that means he did it with his goalie gloves on while stopping a penalty in goal. that is even more impressive and special to me.

a couple thoughts… is it weird he didn’t use my name? maybe i am overthinking this and he is just more of an informal kind of guy… no big deal though… i also thought it was weird he wanted to meet at the AT&T store. so i texted him back and suggested Rainforest Cafe, SouthCenter at noon for some Jungle Safari Soup and then maybe split a Macadamia Crusted Tilapia and Coconut Shrimp.

So I will let you know how that goes.  I am a little nervous to be honest…. KASEY KELLER!!!!. OMG

Ok, onto something else. the next time you feel like you don’t love the rave green color, or you want to complain about electric yellow, just be glad you don’t have to look at this on the pitch. That is ghastly.

Speaking of shirts… these dutch fan shirts  have been getting a bit of attention. i was talking to laurie about it and mentioned that if i were to wear one of these, i would also need another shirt below  that looked like this

i think somewhere i remember GFC creating (or has created) a shirt like that for the sounders… the dutch one, not the abs one. anyone know anything about that?

well that is all i got… it has been a slow week for useless banter ok?

We are 1/3 into the season, and can still turn this ship around. Step 1 is getting all 3 points from Colorado this weekend. Next up are two teams in NE Rev’s (2-6-2) and DC (1-8-0) who have a combined 11 points (as of this posting). 9 solid points would be PERFECT – with the hope being that we can go into the World Cup break strong.  The guys get a week off and expect those who are well to be going home. Those who are rehabilitating their injuries will be hard at work trying to get back into match shape.

Not seeing Nate on the pitch against Boca gave me a little worry, but given the situation, letting others get a little time in the sun can have positive effects for all.  Starters are afraid of seeing the bench, while those who aren’t seeing the pitch much got to be in front of 40K people.  Time to see that “Sounders Swager” and confidence on the pitch.  Qwest is ready to be rebuilt in those Electricity colors.  We are ready for the energy and celebration that comes with strikes that find the back of the net.

In response to the growing number of bicycle commuters to Qwest for Sounders matches, the City of Seattle along with Qwest Field management will be providing additional temporary bicycle racks in the Northwest Corner on game days.

The racks have been full for the first two evening matches (in the rain nonetheless).

This timing will be perfect for Saturday’s noon match against Kansas City. [Buy Tickets]

First off, Match Day Live is awesome. HD Quality is great and better than CBS’s March Madness on Demand. The ability to watch multiple matches is a bit overkill, but a nice feature nonetheless.

But to the drawbacks…

1. Where are the scores? Go to NBA.com or NHL.com and what do you see across the top of their sites? SCORES of the most recent games (plus the pending schedule for the next games). MLSsoccer.com has this set up with their banner listing the matches, but alas, no scores.
2. Update the damn site. It’s 3 days after the Sounders vs. Union match and the MLSsoccer.com/schedule shows the match as <blank>-<blank> score with an attendance of 0.
3. The schedule notes that 4 of yesterday’s matches are set for today (Sunday). For what it’s worth, they have all the weeks’ scheduled messed up (HOU vs. RSL & LA v. CHV are on Thursday 4/1, but they’re noted for Friday 4/2 on MLSsoccer.com). Plus, would it be hard to have TV listings there?
4. I will admit that I was surprised to see that the current standings are correct. But, the stats are still showing 2009 data.
5. I miss the ability of clicking directly to a club’s website from the mini-icons across the header.

Alright, all in all, this site is about Design and not Data, Flash over Content. Hopefully this is just a work in progress so MLS had SOMETHING new to release for First Kick. In my opinion, it’s better to release something great a bit late than meeting a deadline with a sub-par product.
